Situated steps away from Buzzards Bay sits a beautifully restored historic barn in Pocasset, MA. Built in 1893, this barn has served many purposes over the years.
Originally built to house a horse and buggy, the barn was eventually used as a garage and for storage.
Hired by Charles and Cathy Kert, The Valle Group successfully transformed the antique barn into an artist studio with an office and storage space. Cathy Kert utilizes the fresh space for her interior design business, Cathy Kert Interiors.
This project required extensive effort and focus from every dimension. Zoning and historical hurdles had to be overcome along with adhering to strict height restrictions. Precise attention to the structural soundness of the barn was vital as it was re-engineered and designed with historic details in mind.
Only the original cupola, three walls and half of the foundation were retained.
Adding a new dormer brought an abundance of natural light into the second floor office space. Showcasing this renovation is the innovative NanaWall door system. This aesthetically pleasing, highly functional, tri-fold door allows for easy ingress and egress.
The space also has new electrical, plumbing, interior and exterior finishes.
