The Valle Group is currently working on the historic Odd Fellows Hall building, located in the heart of downtown Falmouth. The Greek-revival style building was built in 1856, and for over 160 years the building has served many purposes.
Originally constructed a few miles away from its current location, the building was moved in 1904 to its present location. The Odd Fellows Hall building has been a grammar school, a meeting hall, a fire-house and an antique shop. Katherine Lee Bates, the famous Falmouth songwriter who wrote “America The Beautiful” attended school at Odd Fellows Hall when it was once a grammar school.
Hired by The Falmouth Housing Trust, The Valle Group is providing pre-construction, permitting and construction management services. The building is being completely gutted and restored and the exterior will retain the original architectural character of the historic Greek-revival form.
The building is being renovated and restored into four affordable micro-apartments. The new apartments will be energy-efficient one bedroom studios within walking distance to Main Street Falmouth.
The building will have new electrical, plumbing, fire sprinkler and HVAC systems and all new interior and exterior finishes. In addition to the four apartments, the basement will serve as a common laundry and storage area for tenants.
Construction started in mid-November of 2015 and is anticipated to be completed by July of 2016.
